RCMC’s F1K program was a pet project of our past president Jeffrey V. City Nutrition Committee LPC, Barangay Pilar Nutrition Committee and Barangay Pilar Health Center.
Now on its 5th year, RCMC has conducted 6 F1K program in 2 barangays (3 communities) in Las Pinas with a total of 79 pregnant and teenage mother – beneficiaries.
Each F1K program of the RCMC runs for 90 days (1 quarter) to improve nutrition of indigent and undernourished pregnant women by giving them dietary supplements, such as but not limited to powder milk, eggs, bread, cheese, etc.
The program requires the beneficiaries to attend a regular lecture given by the health center or the Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS) on:
- Proper Nutrition using “Pinggang Pinoy” and the “Ten Kumainments”
- Pre and Post-Natal Care, “Safe Motherhood”, Things to prepare before giving birth (delivery), and promotion of excluding breastfeeding.
