Bobby Alvarez Jr., Chairman of the Multi-Sectoral Advisory Board of Naval Operations Command (NAVSOCOM), played an important part in overseeing the recent celebration of NAVSOCOM’s 67th Founding Anniversary. Held at Naval Base Heracleo Alano (NBHA) in Sangley Point, Cavite, on November 6, 2023, the event was attended by distinguished guests, including President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
What is NAVSOCOM?
A separate command of the Philippine Navy trained in special operations, sabotage, psychological and unconventional warfare and is heavily influenced by the United States Navy SEALs.
The unit’s tasks were also expanded to cover all facets of unconventional warfare in a maritime and riverine environment. This includes but is not limited to demolition, hostage rescue, harassment, force protection and maritime tactical operations.

The Multi-Sectoral Advisory Board of the Naval Special Operations Command (NAVSOCOM) provides essential advisory and consultative services to enhance the command’s strategic intitiatives and operational effectiveness. Key functions include formulating policies, offering technical advice, and fostering collaboration between NAVSOCOM and various stakeholders. The board also plays a crucial role in generating resources and ensuring the sustainability of NAVSOCOM’s programs.
Presidential Acknowledgement:
During the anniversary celebration, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. honored NAVSOCOM’s outstanding contributions to national security. In his address, President Marcos Jr. commended NAVSOCOM’s relentless efforts in combating terrorism, executing rescue missions, and curbing illegal activities at sea. He also highlighted the government’s commitment to further strengthen NAVSOCOM through modernization programs and support for its personnel and their families.
